Saturday, August 1st, 9am-11am Join a volunteer effort to help preserve and restore the historic Allen Park by completing various debris removal tasks! Join our Public Lands team to beautify walkways and clear out plant material from around the historic buildings. Volunteers will be working in tall grass and thick bushes that may have thorns. Please wear LONG PANTS AND LONG SLEEVES. Tasks include but are not limited to: pruning, sweeping, raking, weeding, and lifting. This work is essential to preserving these historic structures and reducing the risk of fires in the area. Volunteers must register individually to accept volunteer waiver upon registration. There is no parking inside the park. Please plan accordingly to find nearby street parking and walk to the Volunteer Check-in location (Allen Lodge) inside. - Enter the park on foot at the 1300S entrance. LONG PANTS AND LONG SLEVES ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED as we will be in tall grass and thick bushes that may have thorns. Stay hydrated and take breaks when needed. Watch your step, the ground can be uneven. If you see anything sharp, broken, or unsafe, please get a staff member or park ranger.
